April 2013 Theme Song – “Little Miracle” by Mary Rice Hopkins

This month’s theme is about the uniqueness of each of us and our God-given special abilities. Our theme song this month is “Little Miracle” by Mary Rice Hopkins. This song has special memories for me because I used to sing it with Mary when I was younger and I’d like to sing it for you now.

"Little Miracle" Performed by Shon

"Little Miracle" Lyrics, Revised

B: Mary Rice Hopkins

Verse 1 (Young Shon)
I’m a little miracle, all put together well.
Designed by my Father, with a price too high to sell.
I’m diff’rent from my brother, yet unique as I can be.
You know that I’m special, ‘cause there’s only one of me.

Chorus: (Young Shon)
Miracle, I’m a miracle.
I think that you’ll agree, I’m unique as I can be.
Miracle, I’m a miracle.
You know that I am special,
‘cause there’s only one of me.

Verse 2 & 3 Combined (Adult Shon)
You know that I was thought about
before the world began.
God, the Father made me,
with His own two loving hands.
God’s imagination
is the best you see
and I know that I’m special
‘cuz there’s only one of me.

Final Chorus (Adult Shon)
Miracle, I’m a miracle.
I think that you’ll agree, I’m unique as I can be.
Miracle, I’m a miracle.
I know that I am special
‘cause there’s only one of me.
You know that I am special
‘cause there’s only one of me.

Verse 2
You know that I was thought about

God, the Father made me,
with His own two loving hands.
From the top of my head
to the bottom of my feet.
He gave me ten fingers,
and He even made my seat.

Chorus
Miracle, I’m a miracle.
I think that you’ll agree,
I’m unique as I can be.
Miracle, I’m a miracle.
You know that I am special,
‘cause there’s only one of me.

Verse 3
Some have blue eyes
and some have brown hair.
Some have real dark skin
and some are very fair.
All of God’s creation
is the best you see
and I know that I’m special
‘cause there’s only one of me.

Final Chorus
Miracle, I’m a miracle.
I think that you’ll agree,
I’m unique as I can be.
Miracle, I’m a miracle.
You know that I am special,
‘cause there’s only one of me
only one of me.

March 2013 Theme Song – “May I Borrow Your Hands” Duet with Joni Eareckson Tada

Hi. This month’s theme is COMMUNITY. In the Bible it talks about how we need each other and how each part of the body of Christ is special and unique in its own way. I had the honor of visiting Joni Eareckson Tada at her headquarters and we recorded a duet off her “I’ve Got Wheels” kids’ album, and it’s called “May I Borrow Your Hands”. Joni and I will be singing it for you.

"May I Borrow Your Hands" Duet - Joni & Shon

"May I Borrow Your Hands" Lyrics

Words by Joni Eareckson Tada & Joy MacKenzie
Music by John E. Coates

God gave us hands
A gift of love to share
Hands that can hold and help and hug
Work perfectly as a pair!
Left and right
Together they can be
Wonderful tools, but mine
can’t be used
‘Cuz they have forgotten how…for now

May I borrow your hands?
Mine don’t work so well,
But yours’ll do just fine
May I borrow your hands,
They can work for me
They can be mine…for a time.
Helping one another
Like a sister and a brother
May I borrow your hands?
They can work for me
Together we’ll do just fine!

You may borrow my hands
Yours don’t work so well
But mine’ll do just fine
You may borrow my hands
They can work for you
They can be yours…for a time.
Helping one another
Like a sister and a brother
I will borrow your hands
They can work for me
Together we’ll do just fine!

Yes you can borrow…
Yes, you can borrow,
I’ll let you borrow mine!

February 2013 Theme Song – “With Love for the Other Side”

This month’s Blessing Challenge and Music That Blesses Others theme is love, so I’ve selected the song, “With Love for the Other Side”. Mymom and David Shay wrote it and I sang it. The song is about being considerate of the other person’s feelings and looking for compromises when you don’t agree. My dad had the idea of giving it a country music sound, so our producer, Don French, did that. I’m a big fan of country music. When you combine country music with a Christian message, I love it! I hope you enjoy it!

Lyrics

By Jorja Stewart & David Shay

Verse 1
My trials are not the same as yours
and yours are far from mine.
At times it’s hard to understand
how each of us may find
the solutions right behind
the problems that we face,
but we can help each other
through God’s wisdom and His grace.

Chorus
Now that we’re understood, let’s seek the common good,
looking to the One All-wise.
With hope and faith, let us bow in prayer
on our knees, God will meet us there.
Together we can compromise
with love for the other side.

Verse 2
We know the One who loves us both,
Who died for us to show His love,
The One who understands all things,
Who knows our every need
will help us find our way.

Final Chorus
Now that we’re understood, let’s seek the common good,
looking to the One All-wise.
With hope and faith, let us bow in prayer
on our knees, God will meet us there.
Together we can compromise
with love for the other side.
In His name we compromise
with love for the other side.
