“The Blessing” by Shon & Jorja Stewart

Shon Stewart has an amazing story. He was born prematurely at 2 pounds 12 ounces with Cerebral Palsy. Despite his physical difficulties, he has grown into an accomplished musician who loves to lead people to Christ with his testimony.

“The Blessing” (sub-titled “On Eagle’s Wings”) is a beautiful example of the body of Christ working together to accomplish God’s plan. Read the lyrics and learn more about the background of “The Blessing” here.

      Shon,
Great song your mother wrote, and your vocals are excellent. The pictures of your Mom and Dad with you as a baby really affected me and brought tears to my eyes. I miss hanging out with you at the movies at Woodbridge.
I’am doing very well. Our God and his son, Jesus, have been blessing me more than I deserved. I’m now living with a family that is very like minded as myself, plus 4 dogs and 3 cats, all with their own personalities. Danny, the father, has a DVD collection even you would envy. Disney animation, Looney Toons, and 1950′s classic sci-fi, which you would enjoy.
I’me a monitor at Grace Harbor Church in Tustin three days a week giving away free food to people that need it.Gary The people that stand in line know that I’m a soft touch and give them more food than I should, But the Top Dog trust me to do the most with what we have. It all works out and I get blessed even picking up food in the rain as the sun comes up. You know me as well as anyone and know that I never get cold and love the rain.
I pray that the Lord Jesus is blessing your ministry and hope that we can get together sometime in near future, and to repeat myself, the song “The Blessing” is a blessing.
      Your brother in Christ, Gary

Shon, I have one son who has health challenges with asthma and anaphylaxis allergies, I’m a single parent as well and watching this video of you singing this song has touched me in the depth of my soul and I could sincerely see that God made us whole, that the limitations we have in this life seem so very painful as we carry the cross but to remember that courage and strength and with a loving family all crosses are bearable from the Grace of God and you have shown me that love and the truth of who we are in Christ Jesus does not define us by our circumstances of body, but our circumstances of heart. Thank you to your mother, your dad and God for your ability to share God’s grace in you.

I can only pray that I can shed some beautiful grace and blessings each morning to my beautiful son… and when I get tired of carrying the role of mother and father with only 2 hands to my son who struggles with his cross that your strength and family unity … has moved me to push on and keep providing the sunshine and God’s blessings over my son.

    thank you,
    God bless you, peace
